Form: Small to medium-sized shrub with numerous stems forming thickets up

Soil Type: Loam, sand, poorly drained, moist

Light: Partial shade, partial sun

Foliage: Opposite, simple, 2 to 4 inches long, somewhat narrow

Blooms: Late summer to fall

Flowers: Dull white in cluster about 2 inches across

Fruit: Dull white, 1/4 - 1/3" in diameter, in rounded clusters

Values and Uses: Primary use is for streambank protection. Also can be used for wildlife habitat improvement, windbreaks, slope stabilization, borders and as an ornamental.

Did You Know? This tree is typically mixed with willows to establish a great riparian buffer.
