Bio-Energy Conference Planned for Northern Virginia
Opportunities for Municipal Officials, Energy Advocates, Potential Producers, Regional and Local Leaders, Others
A first-of-its-kind conference – Bio-energy: Opportunities, Challenges and Connections – will be held April 10, 2009 at the Verizon Auditorium on George Mason University’s Prince William Campus in Manassas (10900 University Boulevard).
The purpose of the day-long gathering is to bring together municipal officials, local leaders, energy advocates and potential bio-energy producers to discuss the emerging market for municipal solid waste and wood as energy sources in urban and exurban areas in Northern Virginia.
“This is an excellent opportunity to get all the various groups and organizations together to discuss the very real potential for affordable and cleaner energy,” said Terry Lasher, assistant regional forester with the Virginia Department of Forestry and program co-chair.
Registration is underway and closes March 31, 2009. Cost to attend the program is $30. To register, prepare a $30 check made payable to “Trees Virginia” and mail it to Becky Woodson, Trees Virginia, 900 Natural Resources Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Additional information, including a list of speakers, is available at www.dof.virginia.gov.
Opportunities for companies and organizations to showcase their products and services at the conference are still available. Contact Terry Lasher at 540.347.6305 for more information.
