The New Urban Forest

The importance of trees in Virginia’s urban and suburban areas will be the focus of the ninth annual Roanoke Tree Care Workshop.

The day-long workshop, called “Diversifying Your Treepholio,” will be held March 4th at Virginia Western Community College. It is open to the public and registration is underway now.

“With a number of experts from across the state leading the various presentations, the workshop will provide anyone who attends with a plethora of information about the new urban forest in Virginia,” said Paul Revell, urban and community forestry coordinator with the Virginia Department of Forestry.  “From students and the general public to members of municipal governments and non-profit agencies across Virginia, there’s something for everyone at this workshop.”

The deadline to register is Feb. 27, 2009. For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Becky Woodson at 434.220.9024 or via email at Becky Woodson.

Sponsored by Trees Virginia, the workshop is hosted by the Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Western Community College, F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Co., Roanoke Valley Urban Forestry Council; MAC-ISA, and the USDA Forest Service.
