6th Annual Roanoke Tree Care Workshop
“Soil”utions – Using Trees to Find Solutions to Environmental Problems will be the focus of a day-long workshop March 7, 2007 at Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) in Roanoke.
Sponsored by Trees Virginia; the Virginia Department of Forestry (VDOF); Roanoke Valley Urban Forestry Council; VWCC; the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture; F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Co., and the US Forest Service, the program is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about how trees can be used to solve environmental problems, such as filtering storm water runoff from streets and parking lots. New techniques in urban tree establishment will also be featured.

“This workshop will be a terrific learning opportunity,” said Paul Revell, urban and community forestry manager with VDOF. “Trees really are the solution to a whole range of environmental issues and concerns.”
The program begins at 8:45 a.m. and runs until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, and will be held in the Whitman Auditorium, located inside VWCC’s Business Science Building. Early registration fees are $35 for students; $55 for non-profit or municipal government employees, or $70 for general registration. After March 2, the registration fee increases to $80. The registration fee covers 10 presentations, lunch, and door prizes.
