250+ Forestry Professionals from Three States Gathering in C-ville

More than 250 professional foresters and forestry students from colleges and universities in three states will gather in Charlottesville this week for the 85th annual meeting of the Appalachian Society of American Foresters.

Pre-conference activities begin Wednesday, and professional workshops commence Thursday morning. The meeting is being held at the Doubletree Hotel on Route 29.

Forestry professionals and students from South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia will listen to speakers on a variety of topics and participate in roundtable discussions about some of the major issues facing the business and science of forestry. Forestry in these three states provides nearly $100 Billion in benefits annually and employs more than 500,000 people in the forest products industry.

Students, professionals and their spouses will also tour Montpelier, Monticello, Jefferson Vineyards and Michie Tavern.
