Program Description and Requirements

For all disasters except severe drought, immediately after a disaster occurs. County Committee will make an overall assessment of the damage to ensure it meets minimum requirements. County Committee provides the State Committee with a damage assessment for cost-share assistance and the report is forwarded to the Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs for approval.

Once a county has been approved, sign-up takes place between 30 and 60 days from the date ECP is implemented.

Cost-share assistance to rehabilitate damaged farmland shall not be more than 50 percent of the agricultural market value of the affected land determined by the County Committee. The maximum payment is $200,000 per disaster.

Cost-share assistance shall not exceed 64 percent of the eligible cost of restoring the loss. Producers are not eligible to receive compensation under ECP and either the Wetland Reserve Program or Emergency Wetland Reserve Program on the same acreage or Tree Assistance Program for the same component on the same land.

Person and land eligibility determinations have to be met.
